“Let Me Win. But If I Cannot Win, Let Me Be Brave In The Attempt”
For the last 4 years Gym Force has partnered with Leon County Special Olympics, providing a 100% free gymnasts class for athletes with special needs. Utilizing in-house coach volunteers as well as community volunteers, we are able to provided a very efficient athlete to coach ratio. The gymnastics class is generally held one time per week for an hour. The class usually starts in early June and continues through beginning of November. In past years we have hosted two special events. The Special Olympics Area Games and also a Terry Massa Special Olympics Showcase and Fundraiser.
The area games included athletes from the area, and serves as a qualifier to the Special Olympics State Championships in Orlando, Fl. The showcase and fundraiser is a way that the program helps fund the trip for our athletes to the state championships. The athletes perform their routines, celebrity judges give them scores, and hats are passed around for donations surely making for an exciting time. A silent auction is also part of the fun.
